Spot Lights

Spot lights: experts on directional lighting

Spot - a ceiling point lighting fixture with directional action with the ability to adjust the target zone. You should not mix it up with wall bracket lamp; although they have something similar by the principle of action (all produce a directed light flux). A separate group for such devices is isolated due to the presence of a movable bracket, which allows to change the direction of the light flux up to 360 degrees around its axis (depending on the model and design, this indicator can vary).

These devices allow designing lighting in accordance with modern design trends. They make it possible to direct the luminous flux to emphasize certain advantages of the interior: sculpture, painting, chic table, working space, a place for negotiations in the office, anything. This does not mean that they are intended to serve as an additional source of light, because with spots one can design a full-color lighting of the room, and so that the situation will be soft and laid-back. Of course, they can be used including as additional, decorative elements: it all depends on your personal idea or the flight of your designer's imagination.

Advantages of using spot lights

Devices of this type are made in a variety of styles, so that as a decorative element they will fit perfectly. In addition, they have a number of other advantages:

  • simplicity of installation;
  • occupy little space, so they are especially important to install in rooms with a small space;
  • the possibility of grouping the spots into separate groups, which can be controlled by various switches (thus creating light combinations that have different purposes: romantic atmosphere, working atmosphere, night lighting and many others);
  • they can be installed anywhere, since they do not need strobing;
  • visually increase the size of the space.

A huge number of configurations in terms of colors, shapes and materials used allow them to easily fit into any design layout, from the Scandinavian eco-style to the strict classicism.

Spot Lights: which ones are they?

The most common classification is the separation of them by the method of attachment:

  • overhead spots;
  • tension spots;
  • combined.
